2. HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
2.1 Health Effects - Acute Swallowed
Ingestion of large amounts may cause gastrointestinal irritation. Eye
Causes eye irritation. Effects may be delayed. Skin
May cause skin irritation. Inhaled
May cause irritation of the respiratory tract with burning pain in the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and pulmonary oedema. 2.2 Health Effects - Chronic
Chronic inhalation may cause effects similar to those of acute inhalation.
2.3 First Aid
Swallowed
If person is conscious, give large amounts of water and induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Eye
Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids. Seek medical attention.
Skin
Wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. If irritation persists seek medical attention promptly.
Inhaled
Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid if cough or other symptoms appear.
First Aid Facilities
Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.
2.5 Advice to Doctor
Liquid - use first aid procedures appropriate for thermal burns. Treat symptomatically based on judgement of doctor and individual reactions of patient

3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
3.1 Exposure Standards
None established. OSHA nuisance dust limit of 15mg/m3 and ACGIN nuisance dust limit TLV of 10mg/m3 for the eight hour time weighted average applies.
3.2 Engineering Controls
Ensure adequate ventilation to maintain airborne concentrations below the recommended workplace standards, including the use of local and/or general exhaust ventilation.
3.3 Personal Protection
Eyes : Solid - wear tight-fitting goggles in dusty areas. Liquid - wear full face shield Skin : Solid - if irritation occurs, long sleeves and impervious gloves should be worn. Liquid - use insulated clothing and gloves to prevent burns. Respiratory : Solid - A NIOSH-approved dust respirator should be used when exposure exceeds the OSHA standard of 15 mg/m3 Liquid - use a self-contained breathing apparatus when entering enclosed areas due to H2S hazard. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.
3.4 Flammability
Flammable solid SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
4.1 Storage / Transport
Control dust and vapour formation and sources of ignition. Electrically ground tanks, shipping containers and load equipment. Use steel or aluminium for construction. Totally enclosed motors, flame and spark arrestors on power equipment and non-sparking alloys help to minimise hazards. Store in a cool, dry area away from incompatible materials. Store/transport in full accordance with the n Dangerous Goods Code.
4.2 Packaging / Labelling UN No. N/A Class None Allocated Sub Risk None Allocated Hazchem Code N/A Pack Group 0 EPG No. N/A Shipping Name SULPHUR Hazard IRRITANT
Risk Phrases R10 Flammable. R36/38 Irritating to eyes and skin.
Safety Phrases S16 Keep away from sources of ignition. S26 In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and contact a doctor or . S37/39 Wear suitable gloves and eye/face protection.
4.3 Spills and Disposal
Spills
Clean-up personnel should wear full protective clothing including breathing apparatus. Prevent material from entering drains, sewers and water courses. Avoid generating dusty conditions.
Prevent human contact with liquid sulphur to prevent thermal burns. Sweep up or absorb material, then place into a suitable clean, dry, closed container for disposal.
Disposal
If uncontaminated, recover and reuse product. Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility.
4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD Fire / Explosion
Autoignition temperature 235 deg C. Sulphur dust or vapour may form explosive mixtures with air. Sulphur flames are nearly invisible during daylight hours. Avoid high temperatures and incompatible materials. Incompatible with oxidising agents, moisture, halogens and halogenated materials, metals, metal oxides, sodium nitrate and charcoal, hydrocarbons, potassium permanganate, ammonia and ammonium compounds, and boron. Hazardous decomposition products include sulphur oxides (SOx), including sulphur oxide and sulphur dioxide. Hazardous polymerisation has not been reported.
Extinguishing Media
Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Use water spray to extinguish fires. Avoid straight streams which will scatter molten sulphur and dust. Small fires may be extinguished with sand or additional sulphur. 5 OTHER INFORMATION
