4.3 Spills and Disposal
Spills
Clean-up personnel should wear full protective clothing. Prevent concentrated material from entering drains and sewers.
Confine spills by dyking. Flush into drains with copious amounts of water after neutralisation. Remove with liquid binding material (eg, sand, sawdust or diatomaceous earth). Cover spillage with solid sodium bicarbonate or a soda ash/calcium hydroxide mixture (50:50). Work slowly into a slurry.
Disposal
Flush into drains with copious amounts of water after neutralisation.
4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD Fire / Explosion
The residue may burn in the presence of a strong ignition source after the water has evaporated. The product emits acrid fumes and smoke when heated to decomposition, and also releases carbon dioxide and water. Strong reaction with oxidising agents. Forms salts with alkalis. DO NOT mix with acid wastes until compatibility is established.
Extinguishing Media
Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. In case of fire use water, carbon dioxide, foam, or dry powder type extinguishers. Use water spray to cool fire exposed containers. 5 OTHER INFORMATION
